About Long Island, Bahamas.
Long Island is around 80 miles long and only 4 miles wide at its widest point. The land area is 173 square miles. Long Island is situated about 165 miles southeast of the Bahamian capital of Nassau, which is located on the island of New Providence. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the northern quarter of the island.
The Atlantic Ocean coast, on the east side of Long Island, is noted for its steep rocky headlands, while the Caribbean Sea coast on the west side is noted for its broad white beaches with soft sand.
Long Island is particularly noted for its caves, which have played a major role in the island's history. Dean's Blue Hole, located west of Clarence Town, is the world's deepest underwater sinkhole, dropping to a depth of about 660 feet, making it more than double the depth of most other large holes.
Long Island is surrounded by smaller bays and inlets, including the large New Found Harbor west of Deadman's Cay, at approximately the midsection of the island. There are also smaller islands off shore, including Sandy Cay.

Fractional ownership of second homes has been growing in popularity particularly in the US as people have realised that there is little sense in paying the full price for a property which you only use a few times a year.
Fractional ownership is attractive to many because it offers an easy way to own vacation property. With fractional ownership, you have a place to go to vacation, yet are freed from being solely responsible for the property and related expenses.
Though you have little responsibility with a fractional ownership, you do get the deed to the property, specifying the number of shares you own. You are free to gift it or sell it as you wish.
Often, people confuse fractional ownership with timeshares. Both fractional ownership and timeshare situations are common with vacation and resort-type properties. With a timeshare, however, you purchase a specific amount of time to spend at the property. You would not actually own any portion of the property.
With fractional ownership, you actually own the portion of the property you purchase.
When you buy fractional ownership in a property, there will be sharing involved. For example, if you purchase a share in a property with three other fractional owners, you may have use of the property for one week out of every month. The other owners would have their weeks as well and you would not have use of the property at that time. Keep in mind, however, that each fractional ownership property is different and some allow owners to use the properties more or less than one week per month.
Some individuals choose to use fractional ownership to earn money. For example, if an owner doesn't plan to use some or all of his allotted weeks, he may choose to rent them out to others.
